As I entered Bay Creek Middle School, I was greeted by the Principal, Jeremy Reilly, and three (3) grade 8 students: Tyler Fitzgerald, Olivia Pryor and Ibin-Farod Shabbazz.
The students were very expressive about why they love this school. They praised the diversity, they believe to their core that the teachers want them to succeed , and that that they are part of a large extended family (ramily). Students feel they communicate well and they support each other.
Beside their academia, Bay Creek grows vegetables and raise chickens. In fact on my visit there was several chicks that were still being incubated.
The school has 1200 students: 55% Black, 15% Hispanic, 19% White, 5% Asian and 6% mixed race and Native Americans.
