Filibuster

One of the greatest obstacles to members of the Democratic Party in CongressĀ passing any sort of legislation is the filibuster, a racist relic of the Jim Crow era, that allows a minority of Senators to block voting on proposed legislation unless 60 or more Senators vote to end debate.

Thanks to the filibuster, even a Republican minority in the Senate can block the vast majority of policies, including creating a commission to investigate an attack on our nation’s Capitol.

There is perhapsĀ no better example for why we must abolish the filibuster than seeing Republican Senators incite an insurrection then use the filibuster to block an investigation into that insurrection. Find and contact your US Senators: CLICK HERE
