I had an opportunity to visit Lovin Elementary School. The school was built 10 years ago and they have a brand new Principal, Kevin Payne.
The school has recently received State STEM Certification. The Principal said he would also like the students to have a strong sense of Community and Service.
The school also has students with Autism on the 1& 2 Spectrum, SDD (Significant Development Delay) Students and EIP (Early Intervention Prevention).
There are approximately 980 students. 50% Black Students, 20% White Students, 20% Hispanic Students and 10% Asian Students.
They recycled soft plastic and reduce food waste by creating a “Share Table”. This allows a student to put food items on the table they don’t want so another student could choose to eat that item if they want.
The students help to plant and grow vegetables and they are also raising chickens. I even got some eggs to take home.
