Since January 2019, I have visited 18 public schools in and around my district. Each school had their own culture and uniqueness.
I observed Principals that care a great deal about their students, the staff and the community.
We have STEAM Schools, French Immersion, Technical Learning, ESL Students, Dual Enrollment Programs, Recycling Programs for our Environment, College and Career Academy Focus Schools.
Our Special Needs Students are thriving!
Some of our schools grow their own produce and raise chickens.
We still have concerns over the amount of testing required by students throughout the year.
Our 1985 QBE (Quality Basic Education) Formula is outdated and needs to be reviewed to ensure that we are meeting all the needs of our students in 2019 and beyond. We must also find a way to provide Pre-K in schools for the general student body. Statistics have shown that if a child cannot read and write by the 3rd grade, they are more likely to find themselves in trouble with the law.
Congratulations to all our graduating students!!
