The budget is our values
Elected Republicans in the Georgia Assembly, who are in the majority, didn’t want to look at the Corporate Welfare in the budget but are willing to cut funding to education.
The cuts made were not necessary, other options were available to minimize the impact to our constituents, especially those who are hurting the most due to the COVID19 pandemic.
Elected Democrats provided funding opportunities so no cuts would have to be made to the top 10 departments in our budget. The top 10 departments use 90% of our revenues.
On June 26, 2020, a majority of Elected Democrats in the Georgia Assembly voted NO on the budget because this FY 2021 Budget was not about the people nor was it about our values.
